KTXS Forecast: Rain likely with a little sleet or snow possible
ABILENE, Texas - Light rain is expected to develop over most of our area Tuesday night and continue for day Wednesday. The rain could mix with sleet and possibly change over to snow by sunrise Wednesday morning. Some areas could see snow that may accumulate on mainly objects above the ground by sunrise Wednesday. Low temperatures Wednesday morning should be around freezing - 32. Major travel problems for surface roads are not expected for our area for Tuesday night. However, bridges and overpasses could see some accumulations of sleet or snow that could produce some slick spots for Wednesday morning. The greater risk of wintry weather for the day Wednesday is mainly for the San Angelo / Concho Valley area where less than 1/2 inch of snow could accumulate before sundown Wednesday. A mixture of rain, sleet or snow is forecast to continue for most of the Big Country for the day Wednesday. About 1/10 inch of sleet or snow will be possible - mainly accumulating on objects above the ground. High temperatures Wednesday will try to warm to around 40. Precipitation is forecast to have finished for the Big Country Wednesday evening. Snow in the Concho Valley is forecast to move south Wednesday night. Low temperatures Thursday morning should around freezing again. Mostly cloudy skies should continue Thursday, but dry weather is likely. High temperatures Thursday should be in the middle 40s. Sunny skies and warm temperatures near 60 should be back with us Friday.
