KTXS Forecast: Rainy with severe weather chances
ABILENE, Texas - On Sunday, skies will be partly cloudy to cloudy with highs warming to the upper 50s/ low 60s.
Rain chances will build to 80 percent by the evening.
From about 4 p.m. through midnight the risk of severe thunderstorms is likely.
Currently the Storm Prediction Center has the entire Big Country in a slight risk box. This means the threat of severe thunderstorms with strong winds, heavy rain and hail are possible. The line of storms should be out of the area after midnight. Lows Sunday night will be in the low to mid-40s with southeast winds at 5-15 mph.
Monday, which is Martin Luther King Day, highs will warm to the low/ mid-60s with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and south winds at 5-10 mph.
Into Monday night a cold front will move through the region cooling lows to the upper 30s with north winds at 5-10 mph.
Tuesday afternoon highs will be around normal in the mid-50s with mostly sunny skies and south winds at 5-10 mph. Tuesday night lows cool to the upper 30s with clear conditions.
Wednesday highs will warm to above normal in the mid-60s with building cloud cover. Into Wednesday night lows will stay in the mid-40s with south winds at 5-10 mph.
Thursday through Saturday highs will be in the upper 60s/ low 70s with mostly sunny skies and southwest winds at 5-15 mph.
