KTXS Forecast: Returning to above average temperatures this week

ABILENE, Texas - The past week was nothing but below average temperatures but later this week, winds turn back to the south and warmer temperatures return to the area.

Tonight, winds remain from the east between 5 to 10 mph but turn to the south by morning. Lows will be in the upper 50's across the Big Country.

South winds will start the day Monday but, as Irma moves farther north into the day, our winds will turn back to the north. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80's. Skies remain clear through the day. Overnight, winds remain from the north and lows will be in the upper 50's to lower 60's.

Tuesday, temperatures start to warm back up to the upper 80's and even lower 90's in southern areas. Mostly clear skies continue but clouds return in eastern most counties into the evening. Lows will be in the low to mid-60's.

Wednesday, south winds start to really turn the heat up across the Big Country. Highs will be in about the mid-90's. Partly cloudy skies will cover the area. Overnight, lows will be in the mid 60's to low 70's as winds pick up to about 10-15 mph.

Thursday, winds will be from the south at 15-20 mph with highs in the mid to upper 90's. Partly cloudy skies continue. Overnight, lows will be in the low 70's.

Friday and into the weekend, clouds will start to roll back into the area and temperatures are expected to cool into the low 90's.
