KTXS Forecast: Tracking a wet and cold weekend
ABILENE, Texas - Warmer air returned to the area Sunday and continued for Monday. Well above normal temperatures - around 15 degrees above normal - should hold through Thursday afternoon. We are tracking a cold front that should bring back closer to normal temperatures for Friday and the weekend.
We are forecasting rain with this late week front. Temperatures could be around the freezing mark Saturday and Sunday mornings. So there is the possibility for some freezing rain especially north through west of Abilene both weekend mornings.
For the next three days, enjoy spring like conditions. Mostly fair skies should continue Monday night. Low temperatures Tuesday morning should be around 50. Watch out for strong south winds at 20-30 mph.
Winds are forecast to die down Tuesday as temperatures climb under mostly sunny skies. High temperatures Tuesday should be in the middle 70s. Look for more westerly winds at 15 mph.
Partly cloudy skies are forecast for Tuesday night. Low temperatures Wednesday morning should be in the lower 50s. Mostly sunny skies and even warmer temperatures should be found Wednesday with highs in the upper 70s.
Fair to partly cloudy skies are expected for Wednesday night with lows in the lower 50s Thursday morning. We should have one more warm day on Thursday with afternoon temperatures near 70.
Colder air should move into the Big Country late Thursday afternoon and evening. This cold front may stall across our region and bring quite a variation in temperatures from NW to SE for Friday into Sunday. This front should finally get pushed east late Sunday and bring clearing skies and chilly temperatures to the entire area by Monday morning.
Rain is forecast to set up over much of our area for Friday into Sunday. Again, we are tracking the risk for wintry weather for mainly our northern and western areas for Saturday and Sunday mornings.
