KTXS Forecast: Tracking another day of triple-digit heat
ABILENE, Texas - We are forecast to return to the lower 100s again this afternoon with another slight chance for pop-up t-storms.
For today, expect another hot one as we top out in the lower 100s this afternoon under sunny skies. Also, there will be a slight chance for a pop-up t-storm to occur by late afternoon and early evening mainly north of I-20. Heavy downpours, lightning, and gusty winds will be possible with anything that can develop. Winds will be breezy today out of the southwest at 15 to 20 mph.
Tonight, any activity that develops will fade before midnight with mostly clear skies returning. Overnight lows should reach the upper 70s. Winds will stay breezy out of the south-southwest at 15 to 20 mph.
Triple-digit temperatures are forecast to stay through at least Thursday. By Friday a slight weakening in the ridge of high pressure will help get us back to middle and upper 90s for the weekend. However, it will still be hot.
As far as afternoon t-storms go, there will still be a chance for development mainly west of an Aspermont to Sweetwater line for Wednesday and Thursday.
Another slight chance of pop-up t-storms will be possible for all of the Big Country again on Friday. Severe weather is not expected but as always a brief downpour with lightning and gusty winds usually accompanies these summertime showers.
