KTXS Forecast: Tracking rain chances tonight, sunshine tomorrow
ABILENE, Texas - Today was very overcast and chilly and that will continue into tonight with some rain chances as well. Showers are moving in from the west over the coming hours. A rumble of thunder is possible but no severe weather to worry about. Winds will continue to be from the northwest at 15-20 mph with stronger gusts possible. Lows overnight will be in the lower 40's.
Moving into Sunday, skies clear out and sunshine returns early in the day. Winds will keep strong from the northwest at 20 mph through the day. Highs will be in the upper 60's/lower 70's across the region. Overnight, expect clear skies to stick around and winds to calmly turn back to the south at 10-15 mph. Lows will be in the mid-40's.
By Monday, south winds pick back up to 20 mph but temperatures still make it to the mid-80's by the afternoon. Sunny skies stick around. Overnight, lows will get down to the upper 50's/lower 60's with south winds between 10-20 mph.
Tuesday will be another sunny and warm day with highs in the upper 80's/ lower 90's for some areas. Cloud cover will start to move in overnight. Temperatures will get down to the mid to upper 60's with south winds at 10-20 mph.
Wednesday, rain chances bump up to a 20 percent chance for the area ahead of a cold front that will cool things off for the rest of the week. Highs will be in the mid-70's. Winds will shift to the north in the afternoon between 20-30 mph. Overnight, lows get down to the upper 40's/lower 50's. Skies will clear some but winds will stay strong from the north at 20 mph.
Thursday, skies clear and temperatures warm back into the lower 70's. Expect another breezy day of north winds at 20 mph. Overnight, lows cool down under clear skies to the upper 40's/lower 50's.
Friday and Saturday look to be sunny and calm days with temperatures in the upper 70's/lower 80's.
