KTXS Forecast: Tracking rain with lightning overnight
ABILENE, Texas - We have been tracking a developing area of rain and thunderstorms to our west Wednesday. Late Wednesday evening it is mostly a large area of rain with lightning. It is forecast to generally weaken as it moves east into most of our area before sunrise Thursday.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Thursday morning for our western counties of Mitchell, Scurry and Kent. We all should be careful overnight and do not drive through any flooded roads that could develop.
Showers and thundershowers are expected to be in our area at sunrise Thursday. Low temperatures should be around 60.
This upper level system that is helping to create the rain is forecast to linger over our area Thursday. This should keep scattered showers or thundershowers in our vicinity for much of Thursday. High temperatures should be in the middle 70s.
This weather maker is forecast to weaken and move northeast out of our area for Thursday night. Look for mostly cloudy skies Thursday night with lows Friday morning around 60.
Morning clouds with partly cloudy afternoons are forecast for Friday and Saturday. High temperatures should be around 80 both days.
We are tracking a chance for thunderstorms to develop on the dryline to our west both afternoons. Weakening thundershowers could make it into our western areas Friday and Saturday evenings.
Rain showers are expected to stay north or northeast of our area for the day Sunday. However, thunderstorms could move in from the west Sunday evening.
