ABILENE, Texas - Temperatures will continue on a warming trend into the weekend as a ridge of high pressure centers over Texas. Some locations may feel the triple digits.

For today, enjoy sunny skies with temperatures warming to the mid-90s this afternoon. Winds will be out of the south-southeast at 5 to 10 mph.

Expect clear skies tonight with lows returning to the lower 70s. Winds should remain south-southeasterly at 5 to 10 mph.

Friday will be another sunny day with mid-90s and southeasterly winds at 10 to 15.

We climb to the upper 90s with mostly sunny skies on Saturday and that pattern will repeat for Sunday across the Big Country.

For July 4th, temperatures will return to the upper 90s with some locations making it into the low 100s.

One other weather pattern we are tracking is a weak disturbance aloft that will slide across the northern half of the Panhandle with an associated weak frontal boundary that will also stall in that same location. This may allow the chance for some pop-up afternoon t-storms in areas northwest and west of an Aspermont to Sweetwater line.

This by no means a washout for any outdoor plans this weekend. Just keep an eye on the sky and be prepared to go inside for a short time if anything develops. Whatever can develop will be short-lived.
