KTXS Forecast: Warm with thundershowers possible
ABILENE, Texas - Afternoon temperatures Friday climbed back up to around 90 over our region. This warmer air will stay with us through Monday.
We are tracking a weak upper level disturbance moving south towards our area Friday evening. It is creating showers and thundershowers in the Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma Friday evening. These showers are forecast to fade before they make it into our area Friday night.
We could see some clouds in our region Saturday morning, but showers are not expected. Low temperatures Saturday morning should be in the middle to upper 60s.
Partly cloudy skies are forecast for the day Saturday. Isolated, late afternoon thundershowers will be possible. High temperatures should be very warm - in the lower to middle 90s.
Scattered showers or thundershowers may move south through our area Saturday night. Rain chances are around 20 percent. Low temperatures Sunday morning should be around 70.
Mainly isolated afternoon thundershowers are possible for Sunday and Monday - especially south of I-20. High temperatures both days should be in the lower 90s.
A cold front is forecast to move through our area Tuesday morning and bring back clear skies and milder temperatures for Tuesday through Thursday.
We are tracking Hurricane Irma in the central Atlantic Ocean. Friday evening her sustained winds were 120 mph and she was moving west at 13 mph. She is not expected to threaten any land areas any sooner than late Tuesday.
