Lady Bulldogs ready to finish district season strong
ABILENE, Tx - Wylie girls basketball is a proud program, with five trips to the state tournament since 2010. This year's bunch hopes to follow that lead.
So far in the 2016-2017 season, the Lady Bulldogs are 16-8 overall --- and ranked 19 th in class 4A.
A few bumps along the way, including upset losses to Brownwood and Merkel, but now, the Lady Bulldogs are back on track as the ramp up the back half of the district season.
"At the beginning of the season it kind of took us a while to get our chemistry going," said senior guard Claire Allen. "We had some rough games and some tournaments, but then we finally got over that and we've been doing pretty good since then."
For almost any other school, Wylie's record and ranking would be great -- but Wylie's tradition keeps them pushing harder than most.
And these girls are shooting for perfection.
"We're showing more and more consistently as we go along, so that's exciting," said head coach Kurt Richardson. "This is the time we need to be doing that. Hopefully once we get to February we will be putting four quarters together."
Wylie resumes district play Friday at home against Sweetwater.
