ABILENE, Texas - We are tracking an upper level high pressure system that is forecast to build over our region this weekend. This usually brings dry weather and above normal temperatures to our region.

Thunderstorms that developed well west of our area Wednesday afternoon moved east into our western areas and weakened Wednesday evening. We are tracking an area of moderate rainfall with some lightning parked over Mitchell and Scurry Counties just before midnight.

The rest of our area could see breezy west winds from that area of rain move in before midnight. Otherwise, look for partly cloudy skies with low temperatures Thursday morning in the middle 70s.

Mostly sunny skies and dry weather are expected for Thursday and Friday with afternoon temperatures in the upper 90s. Fair skies with afternoon readings near 100 are forecast for Saturday.

A weak cold front may slip in from the east Sunday. We are not expecting rain with this front, but temperatures should lower back down to more normal levels for Sunday and early next week. High temperatures are forecast to be in the middle 90s for Sunday through Tuesday.
