McMurry, HSU baseball and softball recap: Friday, April 14

ABILENE, TX - Friday saw rubber matches for both McMurry and HSU baseball programs as well as Cowgirl softball as the final couple weeks of the regular season commence.

McMurry baseball, after falling short in Thursday's rally, played a double header with Big Country resident Howard Payne.

The War Hawks would also fall short in the first game of the day, 5-2, before exploding on 19-straight runs, to take game two and avoid the series sweep by the score of 20-1.

Hardin-Simmons baseball won in dramatic fashion on Thursday, with a Zack De Luna walk off in the bottom of the 9th. On Friday, The Cowboys trailed early 3-0, before Cody Berryman's HR in the 2nd ignited a scoring run, as HSU took it 4-3.

In game two, a bit more dramatic. HSU trailed 7-0, before scoring 14 in a row -- including an 8-run 4th inning. HSU would win the second and take the series sweep, 14-12.

Finally, it was senior day for HSU softball, as the Cowgirls looked to avoid a series sweep at home by Mary Hardin-Baylor.

The Cru opened up the game with a solo HR, before the Cowgirls tied it up with a Lauren Williams RBI single. HSU would have trouble scoring after that, falling to UMHB, 8-2 with the Cru completing the series sweep.
