HOUSTON - While the world was watching and waiting for April the giraffe to give birth at a zoo in New York, a baby giraffe made her public debut at the Houston Zoo on Friday.

The five-day old Masai giraffe strolled around the yard with mama, Tyra, by her side.

After getting acquainted with her new surroundings, the yet-to-be-named calf was introduced to the rest of the herd.

The baby was born Monday at 9:04 a.m. She was 6'3" tall and weighed 139 pounds.

She is the Houston Zoo's sixth Masai giraffe
