ABILENE, Texas - Happy Monday! Expect to see a lingering chance of isolated showers to thundershowers for the area Monday night. Low temperatures will be in the mid-70s with mostly clear skies and south winds at 5-15 mph.

On Tuesday, high temperatures are expected to reach the mid-to-upper 90s for the area. Skies will be mostly sunny with south winds at 10-15 mph. There will be a 10 percent chance of isolated showers to thundershowers for the Big Country. The greatest rain chances are to the west. Rain chances last through Tuesday night, when skies will be mostly clear with low temperatures in the mid-70s.

Rain chances move out and temperatures start to go up Wednesday. Temperatures will be in the mid-90s before warming to upper 90s – maybe breaking the 100 degree mark -- by Saturday. Skies during this time will be mostly sunny with south winds at 5-10 mph.

A high pressure system will set up over our region Wednesday through Saturday, which will not only make the temperatures above normal, but will make them feel much hotter. Values for the heat index this week are likely to range from 100-105 degrees. Be sure to stay well-hydrated and keep cool as much as possible.

As we head into the weekend, our temperatures will decrease slightly. Saturday will be in the upper 90s with mostly sunny skies and southeast winds at 5-10 mph. Saturday night will be clear with low temperatures in the 70s.

High temperatures will be in the mid-90s Father's Day. Sunday night will be in the low 70s with clear skies.

On Monday, the first official day of summer, temperatures will be in the mid-to-upper 90s with mostly sunny skies.

Have a great work week! -MV-
