ABILENE, Texas - Happy Fourth of July weekend! Sunday night we are expecting partly cloudy skies with lows in the mid-to-upper 70s and south winds at 5-15 mph. There is a 10-20 percent chance of isolated thundershowers, mostly for the northern and western counties.

The National Weather Service also has a heat advisory in place for several counties along the Interstate-20 corridor until 7 p.m. Monday.

Monday's highs are expected to reach the upper 90s to low 100s with mostly sunny skies by the afternoon with south winds at 5-15 mph.

During your holiday activities outdoors, you should stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and take breaks from the heat. Never leave a child or pet unattended in your vehicle no matter how short the time is or if the windows are rolled down. Monday night we are expecting to have mostly clear conditions with south winds at 5-15 mph and lows in the mid to upper 70s.

Tuesday through Thursday, temperatures are expected to remain in the upper 90s to low 100s for the region. Skies will be mostly sunny to clear with south winds at 5-15 mph. Take precautions to stay cool and hydrated as temperatures and heat index values will be in the triple digit degree range.

Friday, we will see a more cloud cover move in and high temperatures in the upper 90s. This trend will continue through the coming weekend with a 10 percent chance of isolated showers for the region during this time.

Have a great Fourth of July weekend! Stay hydrated, safe and cool! -MV-
