Melissa Valdez: Warm Father's Day weekend with slim chance of showers
ABILENE, Texas - Happy Saturday! For Saturday night expect lows in the low to mid-70s with mostly clear skies, southeast winds at 5-10 mph and a 10 percent chance of isolated showers for the area. The National Weather Service has a heat advisory in place until 7PM Saturday for Haskell, Jones, Throckmorton, Shackelford, Eastland and Stephens counties.
For Sunday, Which is Father's Day Temperatures are expected to cool slightly to the low and mid-90s as highs. Skies will be mostly sunny with southeast winds at 5-10 mph. A 10 percent chance of isolated showers is expected for the Big Country. Sunday night will be mostly clear with lows in the low 70s.
On Monday, which is the first official day of summer, highs will be in the low 90s for most places. Skies will be partly cloudy with southeast winds at 5-10 mph. Lows Monday night will be in the upper 60s/ low 70s.
Starting Tuesday skies begin to clear and rain chances go away. Tuesday through Thursday will be in the mid-90s with mostly sunny skies and south winds at 5-10 mph. Lows through this period will be in the low 70s.
As the weekend moves in, Friday and Saturday will be in the upper 90s with sunny skies and south winds at 5-10 mph. Lows both nights will be in the mid-70s.
It's important to note that yet again this coming week we are expecting to see high heat index values. Values will range from 99-105 degrees Tuesday through Saturday. Be sure to stay cool and hydrated. Never leave a child or pet in a vehicle, even if the windows are rolled down or its only for a few minutes.
