New screener at Abilene Regional Airport designed to enhance passenger privacy
ABILENE, Texas - There's new technology now at Abilene Regional Airport to screen passengers heading onto flights.
The Transportation Security Administration has installed Advanced Imaging Technology that uses software designed to screen for metallic and non-metallic weapons through layers of clothing without physical contact.
The technology also enhances privacy by using the same generic outline for all passengers.
The screening unit, known as the AIT 2, was installed over the weekend and is now in operation.
