No. 5 Cowboys move past first loss to No. 1 UMHB

ABILENE, Texas - Although we don't talk about moral victories, Hardin-Simmons certainly had a lot to be proud of after going toe-to-toe with the nation's best in Mary Hardin-Baylor last week.

In a 10 point loss, that was the Cowboys' first of the year, HSU held the Cru to 270 yards all game, and the offense was able to score against the top defense in the country.

But for HSU, six turnovers would be the difference - one that led to points, off a pick-6 thrown by QB Ty Hooper.

While American Southwest Conference title hopes are now up in the air, the Cowboys now remain focus on finishing the season strong and keeping themselves in the playoff hunt. It's all about correcting mistakes and using this loss as motivation for a team still poised to win out the rest of the year.

Up next is Sul Ross State (3-2, 2-2), whom the Cowboys rolled over a season ago, but it came in the form of a second half rally. The Lobos this season are coming off a 29-27 loss to Southwestern in ASC action.

Kickoff on Saturday is slated for 6 p.m.
