No more free library cards for Taylor County residents outside Abilene
ABILENE, Texas - Non-Abilene residents living in Taylor County will no longer have access to free library cards starting on October 1.
If you live outside the city of Abilene, you'll soon have to pay a $10 fee to get a library card. Non-residents must renew their cards annually if they want access to the Abilene Public Library.
The change was made by Taylor County commissioners after setting the 2017 county budget.
If you have a TexShare card you can get an Abilene Public Library card at no charge. The TexShare card is a state-wide library card that can be used in more than 500 Texas libraries.
