Jerome Thomas Allsup, 35, of Tye was arrested during November 2017 for allegedly striking a female truck stop employee with a guitar.

MERKEL, Texas - A Tye man who was missing for three weeks in October was arrested over the weekend for allegedly striking a female truck stop employee with a guitar.

Jerome Thomas Allsup, 35, was arrested just before noon Friday at the Big Country Truck Stop in Merkel for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.

According to Sgt. Phillip Conklin with Merkel police, it is unknown why Allsup struck the woman with a guitar. She was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
