Snow blankets parts of Texas: San Antonio receives most since 1985

ABILENE, Texas - A band of snow developed in the hill country late Thursday afternoon and moved through San Antonio and Austin Thursday evening.

Accumulation were mainly on objects above the ground and over grassy areas. Streets were mainly just wet.

Late Thursday evening, the official totals from the National Weather Service were:

1.9 inches at the San Antonio airport (most snow since Jan 12, 1985)

1.5 inches at the National Weather Service office in New Braunfels

1.3 inches at Austin Bergstrom Airport (most snow since Feb 14, 2004)

The snow has ended for Central Texas, but it is marching towards South Texas and the Texas coast.where Winter Storm Warnings are in effect from Corpus Christi to Laredo until 8 a.m. Friday.
