ABILENE, Texas - A Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin Robbins may be on the way to south Abilene.

Taurus Freeman, a ssistant director of planning & development services for the city of Abilene, confirms building plans have been submitted to the city for the business.

Freeman says the proposed location for the restaurant is 2901 S. 14th St. That site was most recently a Taco Bell, but has been closed since a new Taco Bell was built east at 2542 S. 14th St. and moved to the new location.

Dunkin' Donuts' website also shows franchise rights have been purchased for the market area covering most of the Big Country.

We called Dunkin' Donuts' customer service line where a representative for the company confirmed Taylor County is a "reserved market," meaning that someone has purchased the right to bring the franchise to the area.

That representative could not provide any details as to a potential required timeline for construction to begin.

The Dunkin' Donuts website shows Taylor, Nolan, Scurry, Sterling, Coke, Runnels, Concho, Tom Green, Irion, Schleicher, and Menard counties to all be reserved markets.
