Hearing scheduled to reduce speed limit near Brown County school
BROWN COUNTY, Texas - In the latest development involving the traffic on CC Woodson Road near Victory Life Academy, Brown County Commissioners will hold a public hearing next Monday to discuss reducing the speed limit.
The school had asked commissioners on April 3 to lower the speed to 35 mph to reduce accidents when vehicles pull in or out of the school. The speed limit is currently 45 mph. The school is between where the city limits of Brownwood and Early begin and end.
In late March, VLA announced an anonymous donor gave enough funds to go ahead with the plans to install a school zone sign. The Texas Department of Transportation had agreed to pay for the other sign.
Rick Phelps, a teacher at the academy, hopes to have both signs installed before the start of the next school year.
