Rain totals: Storms moved through the Big Country Saturday evening
ABILENE, Texas - Early in the afternoon Saturday, scattered storms popped up across the Big Country and slowly moved south. Later in the evening, stronger storms formed near Knox City and Aspermont and moved quickly south producing winds gusting above severe criteria. Dyess AFB recorded wind gusts up to 63 mph around 7:40 p.m. Saturday.
Heavy rain was recorded in several areas as well.
Dyess AFB recorded 0.88 inches of rain. No rain was recorded at Abilene Regional Airport.
Further south, a site in Lawn recorded 1.78 inches of rain.
Southwest of Sweetwater, a site recorded 0.35 inches of rain.
Snyder saw 0.3 inches of rain.
Stamford received 0.5 inches.
Brownwood and Coleman recorded 0.11 and 0.01 inches of rain, respectively.
Cross Plains registered 0.3 inches of rain.
Areas more south saw more rain as storms slowed.
Totals near San Angelo ranged from 0.16 inches to 0.87 inches of rain.
Christoval saw 1.44 inches of rain.
Just to the east, Eden recorded 1.58 inches of rain.
