Report: Employee stole $2,500 worth of lottery tickets from Abilene convenience store
ABILENE, Texas - The employee of a south side Abilene convenience store was hoping to make some "easy money" when they stole thousands of dollars' worth of lottery tickets.
According to a police report, the manager of the Stripes at 6026 Hwy. 277 says one of his employees stole $2,580 in Texas Lottery scratch-off tickets. The tickets are for three games - Texas Easy Money, Classy Cash and Texas High Roller with a top prize of $1 million.
What the thief apparently does not know is once the tickets are reported stolen, they cannot be redeemed for cash. So the most they can earn is jail time.
The manager reported the theft on Wednesday afternoon.
No arrest has been made.
