Snapchat helped lead Abilene investigators to sexual assault of child arrest
ABILENE, Texas - Police investigators tapped into an Abilene teen's Snapchat account to gather information that helped lead to his arrest for aggravated sexual assault of a child. Holden Chase Gonzales, 18, remained behind bars Thursday for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old girl. According to search warrants released Thursday, the Abilene Police Department's Special Victim's Unit requested the seizure of Gonzales' Snapchat information. They believed evidence of child porn and sexual assault was stored on Gonzales's Snapchat account. Abilene police were contacted by the child's family on Sept. 9 who had "learned of the photograph, depicting the 13-year-old female victim, surfacing on Snapchat." When interviewed, the victim said she had sexual intercourse with Gonzales. Police also learned that during the same time Gonzales had taken a photograph of her exposed in her underwear. According to the document, Gonzales "informed her it was for 'memories.'" Bond for Gonzales has been set at $75,000.
