Softball tournament held in Abilene to help man battle ALS
ABILENE, Texas - A softball tournament was held in Abilene Sunday to help a man fight ALS. Michael Romero, 46, who is originally from Abilene, was diagnosed back in November of 2015. Romero w as told he had between two to four years to live. Now the community is helping out as he gets ready to go to Bangkok for an experimental treatment. Costs for the treatment could cost up to $30,000. All proceeds from the softball tournament went to help fund Romero ' s battle with ALS. "The major symptoms, signs are muscle spasms, weaknesses in either your hands or your legs and then cramping, " Romero said. A GoFundMe page for Romero has been set up here.
