Thousands of students celebrate Western Heritage Day

ABILENE, Texas - Thousands of students headed over to Hardin-Simmons University for Western Heritage Day.

The purpose of the educational event was to inform students about western culture back in the 1800s.

There were many activities and booths for all the students including face painting, branding pit, washing experience and more.

Parents and teachers were invited to enjoy their sack lunch and experience the western atmosphere with the students.

Guy Caldwell Endowment for Western Heritage and the Lee and Lou C. Evans Endowment for Western Heritage helped make this event possible for all the students.

This is an annual event that was canceled last year due to weather.
