ABILENE, Texas - Not much change is expected in the weather pattern over Texas through the end of the weekend with heat still ongoing and the typical chance for a pop-up t-storm in the afternoon.

For today, it will be another hot one with low 100s for high temperatures this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. We are expecting some t-storms to fire up near the Lubbock area. These could, if they hold together, make it into our extreme western and northern sections of the Big Country before falling apart. Winds will be breezy out of the south at 15 to 20 mph. Gusts up to 25 will be likely.

Tonight, we will start out once again with partly cloudy skies due to the t-storms expected out west near Lubbock. We should return to mostly clear skies after midnight with lows in the upper 70s before sunrise. Winds will still be breezy from the south at 15 to 20 mph.

On Friday, the same scenario repeats itself with mostly sunny skies, upper 90s and low 100s for high temperatures, and a chance for a pop-up t-storm to develop near Lubbock and make it into the western parts of the Big Country before falling apart.

Rain chances are not in the forecast for Saturday but the heat will still be ongoing with upper 90s by the afternoon with mostly sunny skies.

A slight chance for a t-storm is reintroduced for Sunday. Mainly for the Big Country.

Upper 90s continue for the start of next week with mostly sunny skies each day as well.
