ABILENE, Texas - An upper level ridge of high pressure becomes more centered over the Lone Star state today. This brings with it slightly warmer air and full sunshine.

For today, look for sunny skies and temperatures warming to the mid-90s by the afternoon. Winds will be breezy today at 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight, we are going with lows in the middle 70s due to southerly winds staying elevated at 10 to 20 mph.

As we head into Thursday, the upper level ridge of high pressure should drift some to the east but will still provide us with mid-90s for high temperatures in the afternoon through the weekend.

Over the weekend, we will be tracking a weak area of low pressure moving up through Mexico then move along the Rio Grande. This will help provide some cloud cover with mostly sunny to partly cloudy conditions for Saturday through the beginning of next week.

As the upper level ridge re-positions itself over the Four Corners region of the U.S. this will put us under northerly flow aloft. That means we could see some features from the north make it into Texas and interact with the available moisture for some rain chances on Monday and Tuesday.

These rain chances are small at the moment as anything that can make it to Texas like a frontal boundary for this time of year is very weak.
