War Hawks earn 5-seed at NCCAA Nationals this week

ABILENE, Texas - The McMurry University volleyball team has been seeded No. 5 for the 10-team National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division I Volleyball Championships, it was announced by the national office. The NCCAA national championship event takes place Thursday-Saturday, November 30-December 2, at the Kissimmee Civic Center in Kissimmee, Florida.

The War Hawks (23-7) will compete in Pool A for the round-robin portion of the tourney on Thursday and Friday, with the top two pool finishers advancing to the final four championship bracket on Saturday. McMurry is joined in Pool A by No. 1-seed Biola University, No. 4-seed Emmanuel College, No. 8-seed Grace College and No. 9-seed Bluefield College. Pool B is comprised of No. 2-seed Campbellsville University, No. 3-seed Southwestern Assemblies of God University, No. 6-seed Southern Wesleyan University, No. 7-seed Life Pacific College and No. 10-seed Oakland City University.

On Thursday, McMurry will open versus Emmanuel (17-11) at 2 p.m. (EST) and then face Biola (22-7) at 6 p.m. (EST). Friday's bouts will pit the War Hawks versus Grace (21-15) at 2 p.m. (EST) and Bluefield (25-12) at 6 p.m. (EST).

The War Hawks will be participating in the NCCAA nationals for the fourth time in their six years as members of the organization, having also reached the tournament in 2012, 2013 and 2014. McM won the NCCAA national championship its first year in the organization in 2012.
