Woman thanks Brownwood landfill employees for finding wedding band

BROWNWOOD, Texas - Talk about finding a needle in a haystack, Brownwood landfill employees recovered a woman's 30-year-old wedding band after she lost it while tossing her recyclables.

"Her load was one of the last loads of the day and it was at the back of the belt," Landfill Supervisor Todd Thompson said.

She lost the ring more than two weeks ago, but employees spent two days looking for it.

"He crawled in there and pulled off of the cardboard off the back of that belt ... and there it was," Thompson said.

The woman, who is only being identified as Wanda, stopped by the Brownwood Recycling Center on Tuesday to thank each of the employees.

They went through 1,400 pounds of cardboard to recover the ring.
