Wylie softball preps for playoffs with momentum
ABILENE, Texas - The high school softball playoffs begin this week, and the Wylie Lady Bulldogs are coming in hot.
Wylie claimed a share of the district championship, the program's first since 2008.
The Lady Bulldogs took down Brownwood last week in a seeding game, so they'll be the one seed out of District 5-4A.
"Going to the game and trying to stay humble really built our confidence because we know we can do it and we can win those close games," senior pitcher Kamwren Jackson said.
Friday's win helped avenge Wylie's loss in the 2016 regional semi-finals to Brownwood.
"Being the top of our tough district and working hard to be the one seed," head coach Heather Collier said. "That doesn't guarantee you anything, I just think it gives you confidence when you compete and pull out one against a top team in our region."
Wylie will play Iowa Park in the first round of the postseason. Game 1 of the best-of-three series will be Friday at 5 p.m. at Weatherford College with Game 2 immediately after.
Game 3, if necessary, will be on Saturday at noon in Graham.
