2 Abilene men arrested for having meth, guns in car with infant
ABILENE, Texas - Two Abilene men were arrested Wednesday afternoon after police say they found multiple firearms and eight grams of meth inside their vehicle as they were traveling with a 3-month-old boy.
According to a police report, officers responded to an armed subject call in the 100 block of Ross Street and found 24-year-old Jose Renteria and 23-year-old Richard Renteria.
A report said Jose was seen running toward the vehicle carrying a gun in a manner that "alarmed the public."
After searching the vehicle police, found a gun tucked away in Richard's son's diaper bag, and another firearm was found under a seat.
Richard, the driver of the vehicle, was also found with a jewelry box containing "two clear baggies with a crystal like substance," according to the arrest report.
Both men were charged with abandoning or endangering a child, and manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance. Jose was also charged with disorderly conduct and Richard was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Both men are being held in the Taylor County Jail. Jose has bonds set at $41,000, Richard's bonds were set at $50,000.
