Abilene council to hear final reading on texting and driving ban
ABILENE, Texas - A possible texting and driving ban is up for a final reading at this week's Abilene City Council meeting. The ban would apply to all written forms of communication while driving, and carry a fine of up to $500 for offenders. The final reading includes a public hearing. Also on Thursday's agenda is the first reading of a rezoning proposal to build patio and multi-family homes across from Wylie High School. Abilene Regional Airport is also looking to increase parking rates at the airport from $8 to $9 per 24-hour period. Mayor Norm Archibald is also expected to recommend interim city attorney Stan Smith be appointed city attorney at Thursday's meeting.
