Abilene ISD approves land donation to city for new fire station
ABILENE, Texas - Abilene ISD will give more than three acres of land to the city to be used for a new fire station.
The measure was approved during Monday's board of trustees meeting, and will grant the land located behind Jefferson Center to the city.
The donation came at the recommendation of the school's administration to be used for Abilene Fire Department station No. 3.
Currently located at 2201 South 19 th Street, the fire station will move about five blocks to the proposed location at 1741 South 14 th Street.
Abilene Fire Department Chief Larry Bell told KTXS last week that construction on the new station would likely begin in 2017.
