Abilene ISD trustees approve price increase for certain meals
ABILENE, Texas - Be prepared to pay a little more for certain school meals in Abilene.
Monday night, the AISD Board of Trustees approved the student nutrition department's recommendations for price increases for breakfast and secondary lunch for the 2016-2017 school year.
The prices of breakfast went up just 25 cents to a total of $1.50 for students and $2 for adults. Lunch for secondary-level students also went up 25 cents and will now cost $2.75.
It's important to note the price increase only affects students who pay for their lunch. It will not affect students who are on free and reduced lunch plans.
The price increase is calculated with a formula that uses an automatic two-percent increase and the Consumer Price Index. That equated to a total increase of 4.97 percent, according to the district.
