Abilene man, 17, indicted for role in apartment burglary spree
ABILENE, Texas - A 17-year-old man was indicted on four charges of burglary of a habitation for a string of thefts that occurred at an apartment complex earlier this year.
According to court documents, Deshawnte Gee confessed to keeping watch while two other suspects broke into multiple apartments in the 2700 block of E. Lake Road. The burglaries occurred between Jan. 18 and Feb. 28.
The items stolen from the apartments included video game systems, computers, cash, and several guns.
Gee said he acted as the lookout while two others, who have not yet been indicted for the charges, went inside and took the items. In one incident, Gee admitted to going inside the apartment to tell one of the other suspects to hurry.
While court documents say Gee admitted to being involved with five burglaries, he was charged with four counts of second-degree felony burglary of a habitation. He remained in the Taylor County Jail with bonds totaling $40,000.
