ABILENE, Texas - A 25-year-old Abilene man was sentenced Wednesday to 55 years in prison for the 2014 murder of his girlfriend.

As part of a plea agreement, Chevayae Magic Johnson was also sentenced to 20 years in prison for injury to a child. The sentences will be served concurrently.

Johnson had been accused of killing 22-year-old Makayla "Kayla" Bunting at the Windsor Place Apartments complex during June 2014.
