Abilene man, 69, sentenced to 10 years in prison for child porn

Jackie Whitt, 69, of Abilene was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison during June 2016 for access with intent to view prepubescent child pornography.

ABILENE, Texas - A federal judge sentenced a 69-year-old Abilene man to 10 years in federal prison Friday after he pleaded guilty in February to one count of access with intent to view prepubescent child pornography.

U.S. Attorney John Parker of the Northern District of Texas made the announcement of U.S. District Judge Reed C. O'Connor's decision in a news release.

Documents filed in the case say Whitt, while living in Abilene, used his Samsung cell phone to access the Internet and view images depicting children under age 12.

"He (Whitt) viewed numerous images of prepubescent minors, many who were well under age 12, engaged in various forms of sexually explicit conduct," the news release said.

Whitt had previously been convicted in 2003 of six counts of "interstate receipt of child pornography" and served 57 months – or four years and nine months – of imprisonment in that case, the release said.
