Abilene man indicted for high speed chase through 2 counties

Jared South, a 27-year-old Abilene man, was arrested during April 2014 after he apparently led authorities on a high speed chase. The Brown County Sheriff's Office and Brownwood Police, along with Department of Public Safety troopers and Bangs Police, chased Jared South down Commerce Street and U.S. Hwy 377S toward Brady They attempted to slow him down by putting spike strips on the road to deflate his tires.?South was reportedly driving more than 100 mph. He was eventually arrested in McCulloch County and charged with evading arrest.

BROWN COUNTY, Texas - A Brown County grand jury indicted an Abilene man after he reportedly lead authorities on a high speed chase through two counties.

Jared South, 27, was indicted in July for evading arrest. According to law enforcement, South lead officers on a chase through Bangs, Brownwood, and Brady in April.

Officials said South drove more than 100 mph on Commerce Street in Brownwood.

South was stopped in Brady after police threw spikes on the roadway.

The Brown County Sheriff's Department, Brownwood Police, Bangs Police, and the Department of Public Safety were all involved in the chase.
