Abilene man sentenced to 10 years probation for child porn
ABILENE, Texas -- An Abilene man was sentenced to 10 years of probation -- including 30 days in jail -- for possession of child pornography.
Ryder Altman, 26, was sentenced Friday by a Taylor County jury. He was charged with second-degree felony possession of child pornography with intent to deliver.
According to court documents, Altman was first arrested in June of 2017 after Abilene police executed a search warrant in south Abilene.
A detective began his online investigation in May of 2017. The investigating detective found an IP address with 21 files of child pornography that was registered to Altman.
Altman originally “denied any knowledge of downloading child pornography.” Later Altman admitted he downloaded videos from a website that had nude women and that “some of those videos were of underage females.”
The detective asked Altman why he continued downloading the videos for more than six weeks, but he did not respond.
The detective also found numerous images of “obvious child pornography” on Altman’s phone.
The detective stated that a lot of the images were of infants, toddlers, and children who appear to be under the age of seven. Court documents also state that the images found were graphic images showing sexual assault.
