Abilene organizations hold Juneteenth celebration
ABILENE, Texas - Several Abilene organizations gathered together to celebrate Juneteenth at the Abilene Civic Center Saturday.
The events kicked off at 11 a.m. and included a car show, free food and health fair.
The Abilene Black Chamber of Commerce, I-Can and the Dyess African American Heritage Committee hosted the program.
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States dating back to the late 1800s.
