Abilene police investigating 3rd homicide in less than a week

ABILENE, Texas - Abilene police are investigating the city's third homicide in less than a week.

Around 11:45 p.m. Sunday, police were called to a home in the 1900 block of Clinton Street, five blocks west of Hendrick Medical Center, for "an injured subject."

When they arrived, police found the body of a 40-year-oldHispanic female.

Police say it is early in the investigation and there are no suspects at this time.

Sgt. Lynn Beard said this being the third homicide in less than a week, it puts a strain on the department both personally and professionally. But he said, they will get through it. At this time, their thoughts are with the victim'sfamily.

The first homicide within the last week happened early Tuesday morning. Roberto Cisneros, 21, and another man were shot outside the Abilene North Apartments at the corner of Vogel and North Willis Street. Cisneros was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jared Dykes, 18, was arrested and charged with murder. Kobe Poston, 17, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Wednesday evening, Kendra Keppler's body was found inside a home in the 3900 block of Whittier Street. Police believe she had been dead for a few days. There are no suspects in her case at this time.
