Abilene police: Suspect in Lake Fort Phantom abduction in custody

ABILENE, Texas - A yet-to-be-named suspect in the abduction of a woman from a residence at Lake Fort Phantom is in custody.

The female victim has been located with "no visible injuries," an Abilene Police Department social media message said.

The victim has been taken to a "safe location," according to police.

When being taken to jail, the suspect told KTXS that he didn't assault his wife and that he loved her.

The abduction started at a residence on Apache Lane at Lake Fort Phantom. Authorities ended up at the suspect's mother's house on FM 1226 east of Hawley, where the victim was escorted from the residence by police.

It wasn't immediately clear where the suspect was arrested.

The initial report of the abduction came over the scanner about 8 a.m. Tuesday.

In addition to Abilene police, the Texas Department of Public Safety, Lake Patrol and Jones County Sheriff's Office are taking part.
