AHS's Serrano signs national letter of intent to BYU
ABILENE, TX - School is out for summer, and Sunday afternoon, another of Abilene High's talented senior class made his announcement of college plans for the fall. Jesus Serrano, one of the most talented hurdlers to come out of the Abilene High track program, signed his letter of intent to Bringham Young University (BYU) where he will continue his track career.
Sunday at his home, friends and family gathered to celebrate the occasion, and what is a signing day without an inflatable slip and slide!
Serrano has been district champion three out of four years as an Eagle, and qualified for both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles at UIL state this year. But looking ahead, he's excited for the next challenge.
"It's a new atmosphere," said Serrano who had to pick from about 10 different schools that gave him offers.
"It's something to look forward to and I know they have one of the finest programs in the country. I'm real excited to just be a part of the team," he said.
