Fourth of July closings for the city of Abilene
ABILENE, Texas - As folks prepare to fire up the grill and stock up on fireworks, the city of Abilene wants people to know what offices will be closed for the 4 th of July holiday.
CityLink buses will not operate Monday, July 4 and their offices will also be closed.
All citations due July 4 will be due on July 5 with no penalty due to the Municipal Court being closed.
Solid Waste Services division offices will not be open July 4, but all commercial and residential container collection will run on regular schedules.
The Environmental Recycling Center will be closed July 4 but will reopen Tuesday, July 5.
The Water Services Center at 701 E. Hwy. 80 will be open on July 4, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., to take delinquent payments for customers whose water has been turned off and for new customers needing water service.
The Abilene Zoo will be open to the public during regular hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., last admission at 4:30 p.m.
Other City closings on July 4 include: City Hall, Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District, and all Abilene Public Library locations, Abilene Civic Center, the Development Corporation of Abilene, the Airport Administration Office and City Recreation and Senior Citizen centers.
Rose Park Pool will also be closed July 4th.
A significant city department that won't be taking the day off- first responders from the Fire and Police Departments, they will remain on the clock to ensure everyone's safety.
