Heavy rains bring water rescues, more flooding to Abilene
ABILENE, Texas - Overnight and early morning rain caused more flooding across Abilene, triggering numerous water rescues.
According to KTXS meteorologist Hayden Nix, Abilene received 1-3 inches of rain on Thursday morning, depending on where you were in the city.
One of the numerous water rescues was at the South 1 st and Mockingbird underpass. A vehicle was practically submerged in flood water. Six people were safely removed from that vehicle and guided through the high water with injury.
Drivers are reminded not to drive into any roadway that is covered with water. Just 12 inches of water can sweep away a low profile vehicle. Six inches of water can knock a person off their feet.
