Indicted: Abilene woman connected to malnourished infant

Breanna Nycole Morris, an 18-year-old Abilene woman charged with endangering a child, was booked into Taylor County Jail on Thursday. Her bond was set at $50,000.

ABILENE, Texas - A Taylor County grand jury indicted an Abilene woman who lived in a home where a 4-month-old baby was reportedly found severely malnourished in January.

Breanna Morris, 19, is charged with endangering a child. She lived in a home in the 200 block of Chapel Hill Road with James and Evangelia Mayhall, their 4-month-old daughter, and Justin Heiser.

Police said they were called to the home because the 4-month-old wasn't breathing on Jan. 4, 2016. The baby was taken to the hospital, where a doctor reported the baby weighed 10 ounces less than when she was born, according to court documents.

The baby's parents were both charged with injury to a child. Morris and Heiser were each charged with endangering a child. The Mayhalls and Heiser are set to go to trial in August.
