Man indicted for Abilene convenience store robbery, arson
ABILENE, Texas - An Abilene man was indicted Thursday in connection to a fire and a robbery that happened just one day apart. A Taylor County grand jury indicted Jammie Lee Davis 46, of Abilene, for aggravated robbery and arson. According to the indictment, on Aug. 30, an Abilene police officer saw Davis empty a trash can onto a truck before setting the trash on fire, which left burn marks on the hood. Officers were able to extinguish the fire and take Davis into custody. Police later discovered Davis matched the description of the suspect in a robbery that happened Aug. 29 at the Allsups in the 2400 block of South 1 st Street. The second indictment says Davis walked into the store with a cover on his head and demanded cash using "what appeared to be a box-type cutter or knife," before walking out. The clerk recognized Davis' voice from "an earlier disturbance" between Davis and another clerk. The indictment says it had happened just an hour and a half before the robbery. Davis remains in the Taylor County Jail on bonds totaling $22,000.
